Evenings on the Lake

I took so many pictures of the lake this evening, I figured it deserved it's own post! This was Saturday evening, after a slightly cooler, rainy morning, beautiful afternoon, the clouds came out over the lake. 

Cabin: Day Two

Saturday morning, we woke up, and it was raining.  Michael loved this, it gave him an excuse to watch football and be lazy all day! Even on this rainy day, the lake was still beautiful!

It was a little chilly, so I was able to start up a fire and watch HGTV while Mike watched college football in the other room.  Made me really wish our house had a fireplace!

Once the rain went  away, it turned into a beautiful afternoon! We took the dogs down to a public beach that was about a twenty minute drive due to the mountain roads. 

While Michael and Linus played in the water, I went around and took pictures! My kind of day!

This beautiful butterfly kept flying around me, but would not land! As soon as it did, I snapped some pictures!

Most of the beach was a mix of sand and rocks, but some of it was just rocks. 

I loved the shoreline, and the sun over the water today! 

Linus was worn out by the time we were done! He loves chasing things into the water! 

Trip to the Lake: Part One

We were lucky enough to get out to Watuga Lake, in Tennessee for Michael's birthday! The cabin was beautiful, the lake was amazing, and we were just SO lucky to get out of town for the weekend and relax! (Thanks again Brycie! :D)

Thursday, we were able to leave after work, and drive out there.  We got a little lost on the way there, and it was SO dark by the time we made it out to the lake, we didn't get to see anything. The getting lost part was my fault, and made for a nice argument between me and Michael.  haha.  The directions from the rental clearly stated to follow his directions exclusively. What did I do- tried to follow both sets of directions.  Didn't work out too well.  We got to the lake and then again got SUPER lost.  We should never have tried to go out there in the middle of the night! We were contemplating sleeping in the car, when we tried almost every driveway and finally found Still Waters! It was about 2:30 AM when we pulled in, and we were exhausted! Especially because I'm usually yawning and ready for sleep by 10:00.  


Friday morning, (Michael's birthday)  we got up around 9:00 and woke up to this amazing view: 

The cabin is up on a mountain, and overlooks the lake.  So pretty! I'm already wanting to go back, and wishing we never left!

After we had an amazing breakfast of cinnamon rolls and coffee, we went down to the dock and read and relaxed.  It was a little chilly when the wind blew, so I took cover under our towels, and read some of my "Breaking Free" book by Beth Moore.   Even the view down here on the dock was amazing, and I even fell asleep for a little bit.  Can we go back? 

 Michael and Linus had fun in the water, Linus jumped off the dock and halfway through his step down, realized there wasn't anything underneath and just fell into the water head-first.  He was sneezing and refused to jump off the dock after that.  

I'm trying to learn more of the manual settings on my camera, and played around with this all weekend.  So fun :)

It was so amazing to sit down here on the water, read, nap, and relax.  Such a great start to our long weekend!

Memorial Day Wrap Up

I can't believe it's already mid-June! I haven't even posted about Memorial Day Weekend! Ahh so crazy! Where does the time go?!

Michael and I both had off Memorial Day, and used a vacation day for Friday.  We left for Chesapeake right after work and stayed with my parents the first few days.  We had a lot of fun goofing off, eating yummy meals, and hanging out!

Sunday, we went to the pool with Michael's whole family. We got to meet a new niece and a new nephew, and hang out with everyone!
