I LOVE my hydrangea bushes that the old owner planted all over the place! I am patiently waiting for them to bloom, they are at the beginning stages right now where they are just starting to bloom. I am planning on cutting hydrangea blooms and putting them into vases all around my home! I found this article about how to make a lasting bouquet!
When your hydrangeas are in full bloom and you cannot resist cutting
some to bring into the house, usually
hydrangeas comply by staying beautiful for days in cut arrangements.
Occasionally, however, hydrangeas suddenly wilt while they are in water.
Care for hydrangea bouquets by ensuring the ends of the stems stay open
to allow water to travel through the stems to the blossoms. In this
way, you will keep your hydrangea blooms beautiful for many days.
Step 1
Prepare a vase with room temperature water for
the hydrangea bouquet.
Step 2
Fill the saucepan with water and place it onto
the stove top. Bring the
water to a boil and remove the saucepan from the heat.
Step 3
Remove the hydrangeas from the bucket and cut
them at a 45-degree angle with the sharp scissors to the length you
desire for the bouquet.
Step 4
Place the end of the recut hydrangea stem into
the hot water and leave the tip of the stem in the hot water for 30
seconds.
Step 5
Remove the hydrangea stem from the hot water and
place it immediately into the prepared vase of room temperature water.
Step 6
Recut and treat each stem with the hot water and
place each hydrangea stem into the prepared vase.
Until mine bloom, I'll just be lusting over these pictures here:
